Durban-based security barrier manufacturers Trellidor have sourced new security screen technology from Thailand. After two years of collaboration with designers and manufacturers Mechtec International to ensure the product would suit South Africa's difficult crime conditions, it has been added to Trellidor's range of security systems under the name Trellidor Clear Guard.Meshtec representative, Ting Chaiwong trains Trellidor's technical manager on the fabrication of Trellidor Clear Guard

"These security screens consist of an aluminium frame with a stainless steel mesh insert. They can be manufactured to fit both doors and windows. The most appealing aspect of the screens is that they allow unobstructed views of the outside. You hardly notice that they're there," said Peter Rawson, Trellidor Sales and Marketing Director.

The mesh insert is an industrial grade, high tensile woven mesh. It has been tested to international standards, surpassing requirements in a knife sheer test, dynamic impact test, jemmy test and salt spray test. These were all standard tests for security screen doors and windows according to the Australian Standard (AS).

"It's a good looking product in terms of design and the fact that it's see-through has proved to be a critical selling point for architects, specifiers and property developers," said Rawson. They're ideal for installations such as homes, corporate offices, commercial buildings, hospitals, police stations, eco-estates and game reserves.

Trellidor Clear Guard can be custom-made in both single and double formats to fit a wide range of door and window styles. These include hinged, sliding and French doors, and casement, awning, sliding and fixed windows, as well as a ‘Quick Escape Window' for emergency exits.

"We've expanded our Durban factory into the adjacent premises to accommodate the new Trellidor Clear Guard manufacturing plant and we've already gone into production. Interest has been keen because there is no other product on the South African market that compares to this one," said Rawson.

Trellidor has secured the rights to distribute Trellidor Clear Guard in South Africa as well as eastern and southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.
