Trellidor Staff support Sunflower Fund's 'Rope of Hope'19 September 2008
The Sunflower Fund was established in 1999 to help expand the South African bone Marrow Registry to at least 100 000 donors across all ethnic groups. The chance of finding a matching donor for those ill with leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders is 1:100 000. About 75% of patients do not have a suitable match within the family and have to search for a non-related donor. The Sunflower Fund's efforts have increased the South African Bone Marrow Registry from 1 200 donors in 1999 to 63 000 to date. Regular campaigns, supported with enthusiasm by the public and companies across South Africa have contributed to this tremendous growth. "Ideally the registry should have 400 000 donors, so there is still some work to do yet. Trellidor has been involved in a number of Sunflower Fund initiatives and will continue to do so as long as they need us," said Charlene. Corporate Social Responsibility |

Trellidor staff showed wonderful support for the Sunflower Fund's "Rope of Hope" fundraiser by purchasing 50 bandanas and knotting them together in a rope, joining many others that were wrapped around East Coast Radio House in Umhlanga Rocks. "It was a fun campaign and our staff really enjoyed getting involved, especially since the funds go to such a worthy cause," said Charlene Botha, Trellicor Group brand and public relations manager.
